Also known as the Quaker parrot, the monk parakeet is common world wide, though in South America its population has seen a recent explosion. The only member of the parrot family which builds a nest of sticks and twigs, the monk parakeet is a fairly social bird and often lives in huge colony-style nests, built together in large clumps with separate entrances for each bird family. Because of their import as pets, monk parakeets are now a common sight in the wild through out much of Florida and some parts of Texas.

Handmade wool felt birds are decorative and educational for both avid birders and everyday admirers of nature. Soft to the touch, lovingly made with fine, natural merino wool.

Each figure has a string loop for hanging. Made in Nepal.
