Make a difference for LGBTQI rights!

November 19, 2017

All proceeds from purchases at The Good Buy fund UUSC's human rights programs around the world. Here are just a few of the recent impacts our work with at-risk LGBTQI populations around the world:

  • Following Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, UUSC's grants to Bisdak Pride in the Philippines enabled HIV counselor trainings and the launching of a daily radio program to discuss LGBTQI issues, the first-ever such programming in the Philippines’ Visayas region.
  • To mitigate the state-sanctioned homophobia on the rise in Africa fueled by religious fundamentalism, Inclusive and Affirming Ministries created safe spaces where 85 members of clergy and 70 LGBTQI individuals could dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity rights, where the clergy were inspired to create their own dialogue spaces in their churches.
  • The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project in New York works to educate and train LGBTQI and HIV-positive immigrants in immigration detention, or at risk of being detained in immigration detention, and to build a united front against hate and the hate crimes through its “Hate-Free Zones” campaign.

Want to do even more to help advance LGBTQI rights? This holiday, give a gift to UUSC in the name of a loved one. Click here to learn how.
