What's Brewing? New Teas!

October 13, 2016

We’re celebrating Fair Trade Month with some special new arrivals! Eight organic teas from Equal Exchange—including green, black, and herbals!

What’s so great about Equal Exchange tea? Listen to the source: “Most teas come from plantations where workers have little say, and are often trapped in a system of dependency. Together, we are building a different tea model, one that give small farmers greater access to the market, affording them more economic power, better lives, and healthier communities.”

Ginger

Equal Exchange’s ginger is grown by the Marginalized Organic Producers’ Association (MOPA), a network of over 800 small-scale farmers, about half of whom are women, in the Uva and Central regions of Sri Lanka. By providing access to markets, small farmers are able to stay on their land provide strong livelihoods for their families, and maintain vibrant communities.

Irish Breakfast

This specially blended tea delivers the fullest body and most malt with a touch of sweetness. It includes tea from the Small Farmer Tea Project in Kerala, India, an organic fair trade tea garden managed by Tea Promoters of India (TPI). TPI is a pioneer in environmental and social reform in the tea industry by bringing economic growth and control it its members who are predominantly small producers from tribal groups on the margins who have suffered social and economic injustice for generations. This tea is a strong cup of empowerment!
