Stay Cool in Style

June 21, 2017

Today marks the first day of summer and it won’t be long until we’re into the “dog days" of the season, as everyone calls them. Ever wonder where that phrase comes from? We did.

Becky Little of National Geographic answers our trivia musings: "Many people today use the phrase to mean something like that—but originally, the phrase actually had nothing to do with dogs, or even with the lazy days of summer. Instead, it turns out, the dog days refer to the dog star, Sirius, and its position in the heavens." Read more here about how this phrase has lost its original meaning but come to have new ones ascribed to it, with a little astronomy lesson thrown in for good measure.

Now that you know that cool fact, shop our summer picks and see what’s new today. While everyone else is melting on the pavement, you’ll look cool and actually be cool. Get started with our top three recommendations below.
