Celebrate Women's Equality Day

August 26, 2017

Today is Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the 19th Amendment, which officially granted women the right to vote in 1920!

Anna Foley at Refinery 29 notes: “Women’s Equality Day is an excellent way to celebrate all the progress we’ve made as a country, but it’s also a way to remember how far we still have to go. While we’ve made massive strides at the ballot box, restrictive practices … continue to affect women's daily lives.”

As we think about women’s political accomplishments, celebrate women’s equality with us as we share stories of the many ways that women entrepreneurs are opening new doors of opportunity economically. We hope you’ll choose to power up the economy by supporting women-driven businesses like these.

  • The refugee women of Prosperity Candle have resettled in the U.S. and now earn a living wage, building a brighter future for themselves and their families.
  • Matr Boomie is empowering women artisans and minimizing gender disparity in business in India, enabling more women to access global markets.
  • All Across Africa supports women in overcoming disaster and become leaders in their community, helping rural families achieve their full potential.
