By the Numbers

March 10, 2018

In the three years since we started The Good Buy, we've seen some amazing progress made by consumers who are demanding that the products they buy be good for people and planet. You've helped to bring conscious consumerism front and center, showing the business world that doing good in the world is good for their bottom line.

We're off to a good start in 2018 and have some statistics to share that show the concrete benefits that came from your thoughtful purchases!

Eco-Lunchbox

We work with a number of partners producing goods to assist everyone in moving toward a plastic-free life. One of the first steps people make to eliminating single-use and plastic storage items is starting with their lunch habits. In particular, this infographic on the results achieved from the Eco-Lunchbox product line alone demonstrates the power of making adjustments to our daily routines — it really adds up to something big.

Blue Planet Eyewear

Worldwide, an estimated 285 million people (including 19 million children) are visually impaired, and 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. For every pair of sunglasses purchased, Blue Planet Eyewear donates a pair of eyeglasses to someone in need. To date, Blue Planet has given over 500,000 pairs of glasses (and counting!), improving lives and opening eyes to new possibilities around the globe. Blue Planet Eyewear aligns with individuals who are committed to making socially responsible purchases that feel, look, and are good for this planet.

United By Blue

United By Blue has been one of our anchor partners since inception, and their amazing impact for the earth shows why. They take seriously the challenge of making eco-aware clothing, especially when you consider that traditional fashion is the second most polluting industry after big oil! But beyond that, for every product purchased, UBB's corps of volunteers removes a pound of trash from U.S. waterways — just recently marking a milestone of removing over one million pounds of plastic, tires, and other debris that have made their way into our rivers, streams, and lakes. Do you want to take the next step and join them for an upcoming cleanup?  Find out where they're going next.

Look for more impact reports throughout the coming year on our blog! Learn more here about the over 40 partner organizations we work with doing good in the world for the earth and for workers.
