A Decade of Devotion
We wanted to share our partner Matr Boomie's 2016 Impact Report, A Decade of Devotion. As you read through, you cannot help but be inspired by all that Ruchi and Manish, the co-founders, and their teams have accomplished over the last 10 years. As a consumer, you've played a part in this success.
It all starts with their company philosophy, the real driving force behind the business, which lays out the path to community empowerment.
Be sure to take the time to read the full report, but here are some remarkable highlights we just had to share.
- Matt Boomie works with a total of 924 artisans. They focus on working with women, minorities, and rural groups. This creates financial independence for women, giving them voice; provides skills training for marginalized groups to participate in trade and overcome discrimination and lack of opportunity; and offers design support and access to market for rural groups who lack the resources to do so on their own.
- Matt Boomie breaks the cycle of poverty. They accomplish this by providing 20 - 30% higher wages than conventional markets, working with artisan partners who belong to minority communities, and providing skill workshops that help increase opportunity and productivity.
- They minimize gender disparity. Partnering with over 500 women artisans, they have led five vocational workshops and have created self-help women’s groups. There are currently four ongoing literacy classes for women.
In the coming months, we'll share more stories of the amazing work that Matr Boomie is accomplishing. Be sure to join with us in supporting their efforts by purchasing beautifully handcrafted jewelry, home goods, and more from their collection.
