Light a Candle for Refugees

October 20, 2015 1 Comment

Every Prosperity candle is artfully handmade by a woman artisan earning a living wage and building a brighter future for herself and her family after recently being resettled from refugee camps. Wax is carefully blended with the perfect amount of fragrance, then poured by hand into vessels one by one. Each candle you purchase comes with the story of the woman who made it, from her hands to yours.

Five years ago, Moo Kho lived in a refugee camp with her husband and daughter. Unable to further her education or pursue work, her future was limited. And having lost everything, it was difficult to see how life could improve.

Then she had the opportunity to relocate to the United States and start anew. A year later Moo Kho joined Prosperity Candle as an apprentice candlemaker. Today she is Prosperity Candle’s production manager — she has her own stake in the company and trains other women in the art of candle making.

Your purchases make Moo Kho's story — and many more — possible. A journey from hopelessness to opportunity, from refugee to entrepreneur. From simply surviving to truly thriving.
