We want to call attention to and lift up the mission of Badger, one of our awesome suppliers: "To create fabulously pure and effective products of the highest natural quality, based on simplicity and thoughtful preparation, with the intention to soothe and heal. To run a business that is fun, fair, and profitable; where money is fuel, not a goal; and where our vision for a healthier world finds expression through the way we work and through the way we treat each other and the people we serve."
After reading that, you can see why Badger makes the cut to be included as a good buy among our stable of producers. Let's take a look at a few additional ways Badger is really living its values of making positive change in its corner of the world we all share.
Ecology Center and free organic lunch
Visit Badger during the spring and summer months, and you'll find an active organic and biodynamic vegetable garden, carefully maintained by staff. Each year the garden provides fresh vegetables for the daily organic lunch served free to all employees. The Ecology Center brings members of the community together to participate in a variety of hands-on and educational workshops on a variety of topics, including natural beekeeping, wild mushroom foraging, and making your own jams! Open to the public and Badger employees, workshop fees are made affordable to all.
Extended maternity leave and babies at work
Badger's maternity leave program allows moms to extend their leave up to six months, with job protection. For any mom who chooses to resume working after the traditional six-week maternity leave period, Badger offers "Babies at Work," a unique program designed to encourage the baby-parent bond at its most critical time, during the first six months. Badger's policies allows both moms and dads to bring their child to the workplace until baby reaches six months of age or begins crawling.
