We talk about supply chains a lot around here. And more direct (like less links in that chain!) generally means better pay for workers. But another added benefit is lower prices and better quality for consumers. 

Check out this infographic from Equal Exchange that shows how many steps it takes to get the beans from the field to your cup. It also might surprise you to see the side-by-side comparison that shows the number of steps conventionally traded coffee takes (and the markups that happen along the way).
