With Valentine's Day approaching, love is on everyone's brains, so why shouldn't it be in our ears too?

Some fun facts from Mental Floss about the the word "love" on the music charts: "Love is the most frequent word (after function words like the, you, and I) in the tens of thousands of song titles contained in the Whitburn Project database of Billboard Chart hits." But sadly, love is in decline.

Check out more graphs, charts, and data from linguist Tyler Schnoebelen and his colleagues at Idibon, who quantify "this crazy little thing called love" in this entertaining post, which tells us that "the percentage of hits with love in the title has been only 30 percent of what it was in 1980, when people knew how to love."
